October’s Highlight
October was a rough month for Africa, it was marked with several socio-political unrests, there were protests in Nigeria against Police brutality that saw the #EndSARS hashtag trend globally for weeks. There have been lots of deaths in DR Congo over the country’s natural resources Cobalt, which Congo houses over 60% of the world’s Cobalt deposit. There were protests in other parts of Africa like Uganda against Police brutality. All this were happening in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Last month, Beam Africa launched the “Beam Africa For Change Challenge” which is a competition designed to act as a launchpad to help enterprising African entrepreneurs start working on their innovative ideas that can help the continent tackle some of its existing challenges. The Beam team will commit some resources such as dev and product support and a grand prize of $1,000 to ensure the product/startup makes it past the MVP stage.
The competition closes today, and the winners will be announced in the next couple of days, stay tuned to all our channels for updates.
